APC Caretaker committee Plans Visit To Tinubu

The caretaker committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Governor Mai Buni will today, Tuesday pay a visit to the national leader of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in its promised efforts to reconcile aggrieved members.

As reports have it, the committee took the decision during its inaugural meeting held at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, on Monday.

Reportedly, the panel fixed the meeting in its attempt to reassure the national leader that the dissolution of the party’s National Working Committee was not targeted at him as many perceive it to be.

Following the suspension of the APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole by the Court of Appeal, a fierce contestation for the seat of chairmanship ensued.

The party was then divided into two opposing factions, one led by the NWC supposedly loyal to the sacked national chairman and another by the deputy national secretary, Victor Giadom.

As the crisis dragged on, President Muhammadu Buhari gave cognizance to Giadom’s leadership and convened a National Executive Council meeting

At the meeting held last week Thursday, the NEC disbanded the NWC and created an interim committee for the period of six months.

The decision, taken by the Buhari-led NEC, was thereafter perceived by many as a move to truncate the presidential ambition of Tinubu in 2023.

However, both camps have denied the claims and assured that their relationship still remain as cordial as ever.

In light of this, a source in the caretaker panel told correspondents that; “It was agreed that the committee should go and meet our national leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, to pacify and assure him that the dissolution of the Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee of our great party was not targeted at him. He is one of our most revered leaders. We recognise and appreciate his enormous contributions to this party. We plan to visit him tomorrow (Tuesday). If the visit does not take place tomorrow, it will take place before the end of the week.”
